If you don't know Pastor Denny Blake, Disciples of Jesus, Thomasville, please allow me to introduce him to you.
PASTOR DENNY BLAKE
For Pastor Denny, entrepreneurship is more than just a path to financial success - it’s a God-given calling that empowers individuals and uplifts communities. As a founding board member of Spark Thomasville, Pastor Blake has been instrumental in championing the mission to support underestimated entrepreneurs through education, coaching, and access to resources.
Pastor Blake’s passion for entrepreneurship traces back to his childhood, watching his parents excel in their side hustles. In the 1970s, his fashion-savvy mother and hardworking father would purchase clothes from factories, drive to surrounding cities, and sell them out of their car trunks. Guided by prayer and a red cardinal’s flight, they consistently emptied their inventory and earned more in a few hours than from their weekday jobs. This early exposure to the power of entrepreneurship left an indelible mark on young Denny.
Fast forward to today, and Pastor Blake’s commitment to fostering the entrepreneurial spirit is stronger than ever. When challenged, Pastor Blake discovered that his own congregation at Disciples of Jesus Ministries housed an impressive 28 businesses. This realization fueled his conviction that entrepreneurship is a path ordained by God.
“God gave all of us the ability to feed ourselves. Oftentimes, this comes in some form of entrepreneurship.” He encourages his congregants to fully embrace their God-given talents, even coining the phrase “Just bake the stupid pies!” in a memorable sermon. The point of the message was that even if all you can do is bake a pie, do it with all your might and excellently. This message so resonated with some members that they went out and built thriving businesses. They credit Pastor Denny's sermon for their motivation.
Denny's entrepreneurial passion is rooted in his deep faith and love for Thomasville. He sees Spark Thomasville as a conduit for positive change, empowering individuals who may face barriers and discrimination to build thriving businesses that create jobs, generate wealth, and enhance the economic vitality of Thomasville.
As Spark Thomasville continues to grow and impact more lives, Pastor Denny Blake remains a guiding light, igniting the entrepreneurial spirit within the Thomasville community and beyond. With his wisdom, compassion, and dedication, there’s no limit to the positive change he might spark.
If you see Pastor Denny in the community, thank him for all his work for underestimated entrepreneurs.
Warmly,
DeShay Williams
